Okay, so this is cool. We read a news story by the Associated Press about a new web site that lets you compare the relative health of your county with others in your state. The site’s data, from a report by the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, “paints a picture” of areas for improvement.
We spent some time this morning looking at our home county and its measures relative to our neighbors in New York state. For example, we found that access to health food, as defined by a grocery store meeting certain criteria or a farmer’s market in your zip code, is below where it should be. What measures do you see in your community that are doing well? Where can things be improved?
