Easter somehow seems to mark the beginning of springtime crafting fun. Check out these ideas!
Create Personalized Notes

Bring a warm smile to your child’s face by slipping a cute egg lunch note in their lunch
Children (and spouses) love notes in their lunch. You can involve younger siblings in this fun craft, creating personalized fun-shaped notes. Easter eggs are especially fun to do, but you can use any shape you like and have them for all the holidays.
- Materials Needed:
construction paper
scissors
cookie cutters or stencils
stickers
glitter and paint brushes
markers, crayons or colored pencils
sequins or other notions - Trace and cut out shapes using stencils or cookie cutters
- Write a custom message on each one
- Decorate the shape with whatever you’d like!
Easter Cookies

Easter cut-out cookies are great fun for the whole family
Grab some cookie dough, roll up your sleeves and start baking! Easter cut-out cookies are great fun for the whole family.
- Recipe
Use your favorite recipe or any store-bought sugar cookie dough. We love the sugar cookie recipe from Annalise Roberts’ Gluten Free Classics book (see below) because they are easy to roll out, and we think they taste better than any other recipe we’ve tried. - Decorate
We favor royal icing: it is easy to make and dries hard with a beautiful finish. Give the kids lots of sprinkle choices and let them create their egg masterpieces. Place the royal icing in a pastry bag, plastic bag (cut off a small end of a corner) or decorating bottle, and outline each cookie once cooled. Then, fill or “flood” the middle of each cookie. Then let the decorating begin!
Beyond the Cupcake

We found these really cool egg pans by Wilton (see below) and thought about how we could use them at Easter. We decided to try out mango bread!
What a fun way to use mango: our children, shy of the fruit in its native form, thought the bread tasted fantastic! This is a really simple recipe to put together, and comes out of the pan in a wonderful egg shape.

Our children both attended a parent cooperative pre-school where the morning snack was as healthy as possible, and our family liked the opportunities for new foods that arose in pre-school. As our children go through grade school, we are focusing on continuing the trend of ensuring we feed ourselves a variety of foods, all good for our bodies... read more...
